CNC Routing Services FAQ
Nope! From CNC cutting/routing of a single plywood panel for a DIY customer to a high-volume order of particle board or MDF for a professional shop fitter, Plyco is your go-to supplier for cnc plywood routing!
Great question! On average, you can expect to have your completed CNC project within 14 business days from the date of invoice payment. For more information, be sure to read our regularly updated, company FAQ page.
We do indeed! Plyco offers a range of affordable local, interstate and national delivery options through owned and third-party freight operators. Read more about Plyco's shipping options.
For CNC routing, we require 20mm spacing between all panels and sheet edges. Small components need minimum 12mm thickness due to vacuum hold-down requirements, though full sheets can be thinner. For edge banding (separate service), we cannot edge boards thinner than 12mm, thicker than 33mm, or narrower than 100mm.
No. If CNC cutting/routing services are required, please submit your request via our cut-to-size form before making an online purchase. We will then provide a tailored quote on the price for cutting and materials.
When you submit a CNC cut-to-size request, please provide your finished dimensions and we will deduct the edging thickness.
CNC offers computer-controlled precision for complex shapes, curves, and repeated patterns - perfect for detailed work regular saws can't achieve.
CNC edges are smooth and often ready for immediate use. Some veneered materials may have slight burring (less than 1mm) requiring light sanding.
Our CNC router maintains ±0.2mm tolerance for linear cuts and ±1.0mm for depth work like pockets and rebates, making it perfect for cnc plywood routing.
We offer two submission options to suit your needs. For complex or irregular shapes, we prefer 2D DXF or DWG files which can be exported from most CAD, illustration or drawing software - these go straight to our CNC with minimal setup fees.
For simpler shapes like circles, rectangles or triangles, you can submit scanned hand drawings or digital drawings as PDF, PNG or JPEG files, though these require a programming fee to convert to machine-ready format.
Via our CNC routing service we cut timber-based sheet materials including all grades of plywood (marine, exterior, birch, poplar), MDF and moisture-resistant MDF, particle board, melamine-faced boards, bamboo panels, and veneered timber sheets.
We do not cut metals, plastics, foam, acrylic, or composite materials like aluminium composite panels. This specialisation ensures our tooling and techniques are optimised for the best possible finish on wood products.
Yes, all offcuts from your CTS plywood routing job are returned with your completed order. Since you're purchasing the full sheet of material, we ensure you receive all usable pieces. This is great for smaller projects, testing finishes, or keeping spare material that matches your main project.
Our CNC router can cut standard 90-degree edges or create 45-degree chamfers into either the face or back of the board at any depth you specify. Unfortunately, we cannot cut any other angles on the edge of boards due to our current machine configuration.
If your project requires specific angles other than these, please discuss alternatives with our team.
All internal corners will have a radius due to the cylindrical router bit used in CNC machining. For boards under 25mm thick, this creates a 3.25mm radius (6.5mm diameter bit), while boards over 25mm have a 4mm radius (8mm diameter bit).
If you need sharp internal corners for fitting purposes, you can either include dogbone fillets in your design file (matching these exact radiuses) or manually square out the corners with a file after receiving your parts.
